Things that piss me off #1

This past weekend i saw two movies.
The Expendables and
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

...and the award for the best action film goes to...

Scott Pilgrim by a long shot.

The Reasoning?

Well way way back in the 2007 Paul Greengrass gave us the finale to the Bourne Trilogy, a film witch contained camera work unlike anything we had ever seen, and i will admit, it was pretty fantastic at the time, heck it even won an academy award for editing.

but seriously, i am so sick of this whole shaky cam method of filming every action sequence, you can't even see whats going on.

Which is why it was so astonishing to see such wonderful directing by the likes of Edgar Wright (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead). You actually get to see the fight scenes! I could cry it was so beautiful. Punches being landed. Reactions being seen. Head not spinning. Vomit not spewing.

Go see Scott Pilgrim.

and if you don't like it.
I don't like you.

Strung out like these christmas lights

Everything is Over
Everything is Beginning

Once upon a time i was walking home with Anna, right around the time she had broken up with a certain jerk.
During this walk i was listing off guys she could use as a rebound.
I eventually came to Jordan.
Turns out you should never tell a girl that a specific boy is too good for her.
So in rebellion Anna started dating this boy.
and she proved me wrong.
he's not too good for her.
he's perfect for her.
and she for him.

and so no more will I skip choir practice to talk to Anna in her office.
and no more will i delay practicing guitar to talk to Jordan in the hallway.
but i think it is to their credit to say
that the chagrin of nostalgia does not out way
the absolute joy in knowing they will live out the rest of their days
together.

Flicker you once bright star.

I loath grocery stores.

The bright lights make me feel like i'm part of a science experiment.

The music reminds me of soma from Brave New World.

the check out line makes me feel like cattle.

The endless number of products and advertisements and sales and air miles makes my soul curl up into a tight little ball and pray for death.

I want all of you to go to a grocery store, pick up a dozen products, go to the middle of the store and just stop. Just stand there. take in your surroundings. admire the beauty that man has created. and then throw up. but don't worry, some poor shmuck will have to clean it up.

Come to think of it, next time i'm feeling nauseous, to the grocery store i will go.

Irony is still the shackles of youth

Continuing my Rocky Mountain College Choir & Orchestra tradition i smoked a cigar (well, a primetime) to commemorate finishing another concert, although this time i smoked it somewhere on John Laurie Blvd while waiting for a conformation that the concert was indeed canceled.

Shortly after this i lent my cellphone to a fellow bored driver in the lane beside me so he could call his wife, and while standing in the middle of the road i took a moment to appreciate how beautiful a never ending sea of red tail lights look in the cold.

5 more months till Graduation.
yay for things you can put on your wall
